Music Society, Motilal Nehru College
"The Music Society of Motilal Nehru College is known as 'Malhaar' derived from Malhar an old raga in Indian Classic Music associated with Atmosphere of Torrential rains.
Malhaar was formed in the year 2010 and was earlier known by the name FURO later changed to Malhaar. It was founded by a few students who are currently a part of House of Symphony and many ongoing successful ventures.
Malhaar is mainly about two genres of music, Indian Classical Music as well as Western Music.
During the past years Malhaar has performed and won prizes at many Inter-College fests such as Pulse (official Fest of AIIMS), Rendezvous (IIT Delhi and Kanpur), Oasis (Bits Pilani), Symbiosis-Pune and many more.
Malhaar feels proud to boast its achievements during the year 2014-15, emerging victorious with 3rd position in Indian Classical group singing competition at Feria'15 –Official Fest of Institute of Home Economics, University of Delhi, 2nd position secured by Kiratraj Sadana in Western Solo Singing Competition at Vibrations'15- Official Fest of Shivaji College, University of Delhi.
The Official Annual Fest of Malhaar known as AAROHI is usually scheduled for the month of February or March with many competitive events such as Solo Singing Competition and Group singing Competition. Aarohi has been ground for many famous Artists such as J-Star, Jazzy-B, Salim-Sulaiman in the past.
